**MATH OUR WAY!**

Students of mine will quickly learn that I believe that anything is possible as long as you believe it is possible! There is no room for "I can't" in my classroom. My goal is for each and every child to leave my classroom believing that they can do anything to which they set their mind. I will motivate them to give their best each and every day!

Math Expectations: My first expectation is for you to enjoy your experiences in Math this year! I work very hard to make sure that happens! My promise to you is that I will work hard to make sure you enjoy math this year! What do I need from you, you ask? Here are a few things that I need you to do:

1) Come to my classroom everyday with your most positive attitude!

2) Make an effort, not an excuse!

3) Treat everyone in the room with respect!

**REQUIRED MATERIALS FOR MATH CLASS - These must be brought to class everyday unless told otherwise**

- iPad
- Calculator (may use the one on the ipad)
- Pencil
- Eraser

My class is a self-paced math class. This means that students work at their own pace and self-direct their own learning. I still teach ALL of the lessons to my students, however, I teach via video so students will always have access to the lesson material! They can go back anytime to review or revisit a concept. They will never again miss a lesson when they are absent! Students will follow the Math Our Way links on my website to complete the Common Core Curriculum for this year. They may move as quickly as they like through the curriculum as long as they are mastering the material. I do require my students to complete at least 2 (3 for Period 5) steps per day. I will discuss with them each day what I expect them to turn in the following day. If they complete both steps in class, they do not have to do homework, but they certainly can if they would like! If they only complete 1 assignment in class, they will be expected to complete the second step at home.

Math Step Expectations:

1) Students only have math practice at home if they do not complete the work in class or if they want to move ahead.

2) Almost all of our math work will be completed on the iPad.

3) Practice is due at the beginning of the class period.

4) You must show all of your work for every problem.

***** Remember - Make an effort, not an excuse! Please complete your daily math steps, it will help, I promise! The longer a unit takes a student, the more difficult it is to remember all the concepts in the unit.**

Absence Expectations:

1) Use your Google Sheet to keep up with what you should work on.

2) Students are responsible for checking their Google Sheet to see if there are any other activities they may have missed during their absence.
